How to tell if you are in the presence of the fabled magic smoke.

I once changed a switch power supply from 240V to 120V while it was still plugged in. Which resulted in the power supply blowing up and a large white flare extending out of the fan grill.

Once that was over a large mushroom cloud escaped from the power supply casing almost like a miniature nuke went off in the power supply casing.

Couldn’t see anything apart from the outline of the white flare for about half an hour.
